LEVEL 3+ PLATES

Level 3+ Armor Plates indicate additional special threat testing beyond the standard NIJ level 3 threats. This means they are able to withstand high velocity rounds such as M193, M855 or M855A1. Typically Level 3+ plates sacrifice some of the Armor Piercing protection Level 4 plates have in exchange for great weight savings. 
(Highcom 3S9/3S9Ms are an exception, exhibiting near Level 4 performance)
